the Crisis

The Truth Church (2x2s) has evaded public scrutiny for generations but has recently come under investigative scrutiny for widespread criminal CSA/SA and the coverup of Abuse by the church leadership.

After the unexpected death of a regional church Leader - Dean Bruer in 2022, a laptop revealed insight to widespread abuse, with evidence of multiple sex crime victims. What was initially identified as a singular case of a sexual predator escalated into a flood of allegations of criminal abuse and corruption within the church. As Victim-survivors of child sex abuse and sexual abuse came forward, we identified hundreds of perpetrators (living and deceased) within the church community.

Due to the nature of privacy and secrecy within the church, leadership deeply embedded criminal behavior has gone unchecked until now. The insular church system is being exposed for covering up crimes against children and adults alike.  For over a hundred years, perpetrators have been protected within positions of power and authority despite their crimes. Church Leaders known as overseers maintained and protected predators by relocating them across regions, state and international borders to avoid detection. This approach was an organized coverup allowing perpetrators to prey upon and harm innocent children and adults.

In many cases, when victim-survivors reported to church leaders, they were silenced, shamed and rebuked. Some victims were made to confront their abusers, denied legal reporting, or protection. Victim-survivors have gone without therapeutic support, safety and care leading to re-traumatization, and lifelong side effects.

Historically, in over a century there have never been organized efforts to bring the perpetrators of abuse, and those who protect them, to justice. Our investigative team approaches each report with the intent of pursuing legal action with the consent of the victim-survivor. Not only to hold perpetrators accountable, but also reduce and protect egregious harm to any more children and adults. We hope with community action, advocacy and legal support we can support each victim-survivor with the intention of eliminating such crimes from the community all together.
