In this episode of The Hidden Truth, host Jonathan McLernon welcomes Sheri as the guest. Sheri, a former member of the Christian fellowship that Jonathan is currently a part of, shares her experiences and her work as one of the co-founders of Advocates for the Truth. Sherry reveals that she has been on a path of exposing the abuse she suffered 40 years earlier. Growing up in the fellowship as the only girl among four brothers, Sheri discusses the grooming she experienced from a worker named Steve Rohs. She describes the manipulation and mind games he played, making her feel special and chosen, but also fearful of being caught. Sheri also delves into her parents' adherence to the fellowship's rules and the high esteem in which workers were held. Sheri talks about confronting the abuser, expressing her anger and disappointment at his insincere apology. She discusses how the overseer, Eldon Tenniswood, failed to inquire further into other potential victims despite her request. The surprising promotion of Steve to an elder within the church and the organization's active cover-up of the abuse for almost 30 years is also discussed. Sheri briefly mentions her visit to the district attorney's office, explaining her decision not to pursue court proceedings due to her age and the emotional toll it would have taken.
